Shaw narrowly escapes being crushed by the wreckage of the Engineer ship, but Vickers suffers an unfortunate fate. She returns to Vickers' crashed lifeboat to collect supplies and encounters her alien offspring, which has grown to monstrous size. A still-functioning David warns her that the final Engineer is alive and pursuing her, but she manages to lure it into a confrontation with her offspring, which kills it. Shaw has a brief breakdown before being contacted by David, who reveals her the existence of several other alien ships. She recovers David's remains and, with his help, launches another Engineer ship. Shaw and David leave LV-223 on a course for the Engineer homeworld. Shaw records a final voice log, warning future humans to stay away from the planet and stating that she intends to continue searching for answers.
